Can you make music out of paper? This is the question that the project Paper Music poses during this one of a kind concert at Kvarnbyns handpappersbruk.
Ever since Guido of Arezzo invented musical notation in the 11th century, paper has played a central role as carrier of music information; an innovation that facilitates to create and to perform music independently of time and space. But, how does paper sound in itself?
The city of Mölndal celebrates 100 years as city, and in connection with this a cross-disciplinary project is carried out in the autumn 2022, where paper in various forms, qualities, and functions is used as base for music making.
The participants are Hans Assarsson (chairman paper mill), Jim Berggren (visual artist), Malin Bång (composer), Palle Dahlstedt (musician/researcher), Thomas Jäderlund (musician), Gun Nilsson (artisan), Per Anders Nilsson (initiator and musician/researcher) among others.
This concert is presented by non-profit organization Kvarnbyn’s handpappersbruk, in collaboration with local and regional composers, musicians, artists, and artisans. Drinks and soup are served.
