The time has come to reveal yet more artists for the upcoming festival.
The time has come to reveal yet more artists for the upcoming festival.
And this time we’re focusing exclusively on a couple of amazing international artists, the majority of which will be presenting audiovisual works!
Friday October 21, Glasgow-based international composer and multimedia artist Sonia Killmann will present her audiovisual piece Them! There! Eyes? at Skeppet GBG. Over the years, Sonia has been exploring the relationship between sound and environment. Her works often involve field recordings, as well as a mixture of live processing and audiovisual music. Rooted neither in the grounded rock world nor the spirited classical genres, Belgian electric guitar quartet Zwerm explores and exploits reaches of their own. For the 2022 edition of Göteborg Art Sounds they will present their work Our Ears Felt Like Canyons II.
Saturday October 22 is the final day of this years edition of the festival and we start off with presenting no less than three Canadian audiovisual artists at Skeppet GBG. Canadian sound artist Pierre-Luc Lecours and saxophonist Ida Toninato will present their audiovisual performance Inner Seas, which is an audiovisual performance that revolves around the theme of water, where baritone saxophone, modular synthesizer and electric guitar meet. Montreal based sound artist Myriam Boucher presents the work The Tuning of the Fields, a work that tends to evoke those moments of solitude and wonder, and that feeling of suspended time that inhabits us when listening to the song of the crickets, eyes closed, at night, lying in a field. Montreal based artists France Jobin and Markus Heckmann presents the audiovisual work Entanglement, which is an artistic project at the crossroads of scientific research inspired by the concept and properties of entanglement in quantum physics and quantum fields theory. The 2022 closing concert is presented by UK artist Alex Smoke at Masthuggskyrkan. Over the last couple of years, he has since increasingly focused on sound for picture, psycho-acoustics and collaborations with visual artists and orchestral musicians.
The concerts with Sonia Killman and Alex Smoke were selected by our international artistic guest curator Cathie Boyd. The Concert with Zwerm was selected by our international artistic guest curator Joost Fonteyne.
