How does Bartók sound when remixed by two young sound artists? Lead by acclaimed conductor Kent Nagano, Göteborgs Symfoniker performs this beautiful Bartók piece, only to then let it be remixed by Rakel Nystabakk & Eirik Ask in the concert house foyer.

Right after Göteborgs Symfoniker has performed Bartóks Music for strings percussion and celesta, Norwegian sound artists Rakel Nystabakk and Eirik Ask will do a live remix of this amazing piece. They will work with samples from the piece and draw inspiration from the orchestra’s performance, in order to improvise a new interpretation of the original work.

Rakel Nystabakk has a BA in electronic music from the University of Agder. She has a varied musical background and is now about to establish herself as an improvising laptop musician. In addition to performing music, she has composed for various ensembles, as well as music for theatre. Her music is often inspired by minimalism, everyday sounds and folk music.

Eirik Ask is active within the world of jazz, yet he has focused on his own experimental improvised music the last few years. He has influenced the underground environment in Kristiansand. The last couple of years he has worked with live remix and other forms of new-wave music cultures.
